Pensar a Arqueologia enquanto motor de desenvolvimento de uma região é um desafio que se coloca à comunidade científica, presentemente. A conjuntura política, económica e social atual apresenta imensos problemas, mas deve constituir um verdadeiro estímulo, sendo importante afirmar o papel social e agregador que a pesquisa arqueológica pode proporcionar às comunidades locais ou ao país.

Thinking about Archaeology as a development motor of a region is a challenge that the scientific community is currently facing. The current political, economic and social conjuncture presents immense problems, but it should be a true stimulus, being important to affirm the social and aggregative role that archaeological research may provide to local communities or to the country.
